By Anastasia: Hello, beautiful LifeReader Community!
In stillness, we discover our true selves. By asking ourselves questions and allowing the answers to arise gently and calmly, we can connect more deeply with our inner truth.
But how do we achieve this stillness? The key is to practice, and it all begins with the breath—your breath.
Breath work can be practiced anywhere, at any time. You just need to make it a habit. A simple yet powerful exercise is to say to yourself in your mind’s eye, “Inhale love… Exhale peace…” This practice will help you learn more about yourself. The answers you seek are always within you, but often, we need silence and self-reflection to access them. Ask yourself: Is your mind racing? Is your body in pain? Are you holding your breath? These are all clues about what you are, or are not, processing.
After each call or chat, I sit quietly and pray for each of you, hoping you find resolution and peace in your situations. Some of us receive clarity after a yoga session, workout, or dance. Others need to write down their thoughts to understand how they are affecting the mind-body connection. Whatever method you choose, consciously connecting with your breath is a great practice to start, if you haven’t already done so.
Many of us practice this breathing technique upon waking, during lunch, or before bedtime. Using the breath to observe your thoughts and release the day’s tensions is incredibly effective. I had one client who practiced this during her lunch break. She found that taking just five minutes to breathe allowed her to shed the stress of the morning, returning to her desk feeling refreshed and renewed for the rest of the afternoon.
When we realize that our body is breathing for us, it’s nothing short of a miracle. Breath is the bridge that connects life to consciousness, uniting your body with your thoughts. Whenever your mind becomes scattered, use your breath to bring your mind back into balance.
As Thich Nhat Hanh wisely said, “Breath is the bridge which connects life to consciousness, which unites your body to your thoughts. Whenever your mind becomes scattered, use your breath to take care of your mind again.”
Peace and blessings on your journey,
Anastasia
