Does He Move Mountains?

By Counselor Karen: I am writing this article for all the women out there who are struggling with their decision to stay or to leave a man in their lives. My mother always taught me that love is a lot like winning the lottery. You both have to feel you are getting the best end of the deal. But my question is this… do men move mountains, even in today’s world when “old fashioned” love is being redefined?

karen2 I still feel strongly that if a man loves you, he will do whatever it takes to keep you in regards to romance, and passion. He won’t disregard who you are or attack the way you do things. He will embrace all that you have to offer and he will be attentive to your needs. That does not mean he will be at your beck and call. It means he will acknowledge how special you are even in the hard times.

Many clients come to me and ask me, “How so does and so feel about me?”. I am always perplexed by this question because for myself who is in a very strong and loving marriage, never have had to ask this of my own husband or anyone else. What it comes down to is that if you do not know where your significant other’s feelings are for you, then quite possibly you are in the wrong relationship. A confident relationship always knows what the other feels.

There is a natural trust that comes with a confident relationship. I feel in this day and age people are relying too much on the other person in the relationship to meet all of their needs. They do not understand that for a relationship to work there has to be a mutual respect. A relationship is not based on meeting the needs of the other person, but showing love and compassion. Encouraging someone to be the best they can be. If you do that then you become a relationship that can withstand anything.

It all comes down to first loving yourself and second, loving others. A relationship that is destined to work out naturally is due to two people that love themselves first and second are okay with compromising so that both can reap the rewards of being in love. Moving mountains from a man’s perspective means to be romantic, passionate, and be the knight in shining armor by listening, caring and protecting.

If your man lacks any of the above, then maybe it’s time to rethink who you are with. If you are married, then of course, leaving is not a question. You need to seek help to revamp what you once had that made you love the other person enough to marry them. Sometimes being married for a while, you get caught up in life and just lose sight of how important your spouse still is to you. There is always help to bring passion back in relationships.

But in today’s day and age, relationships are different. Men are not as strong and forthcoming as they once were and women are having to step things up. But what it all comes down to in the end is…
